Since when are our working families “extremists?”

Jim Gerlach needs a reality check

MALVERN, PA – In explaining Jim Gerlach’s refusal of an invitation to attend several Working Families Win candidate forums, his campaign released a statement condemning Working Families as “‘a campaign group masquerading as an interest group’ — one that promotes ‘extremist views.’” Pottstown Mercury Article

From their website: “Working Families Win, a non-profit and non-partisan organization, works to change the economy in favor of working families, provides education about economic decisions made in Washington and the impacts within our local communities, and engages individuals through neighbor to neighbor communication to hold our elected officials accountable.” WFW website

The group’s priority issues are new trade rules, affordable healthcare, workers’ rights, and an increased minimum wage.

“Once again, Jim Gerlach is relying on convenient political rhetoric so that he doesn’t have to answer tough questions on real issues that affect the families in the 6th District,” said Liz Conroy, Roggio’s Campaign Manager. “Maybe he has spent too much time in Washington, but Gerlach needs a serious reality check. Families are struggling everyday with the cost of healthcare, and the impact that unfair trade rules have on their jobs. It is clear that Jim Gerlach is out of touch with middle class issues when he is busy fighting for tax breaks for millionaires and lining the pockets of Big Oil with government subsidies. It is time to end Gerlach’s business-as-usual politics and elect new leaders.”
