DEMS, JULY 16 LANCASTER , PA —On Wednesday, July 16, Pennsylvania State Representative Josh Shapiro, a Democrat representing the 153rd Legislative District in Montgomery County and Deputy Speaker of the House, will visit Democratic Campaign Headquarters at 151 N. Queen Street . He is expected to arrive about 11:00 am, following State Attorney General candidate John Morganelli’s remarks. A luncheon with Rep. Shapiro is scheduled for 12:30 pm, the location to be determined. All Lancaster County Democrats have been invited, and the press is welcome. Shapiro was instrumental in arranging the compromise vote that replaced veteran House Speaker Perzel with moderate Republican Dennis O’Brien, from Philadelphia County , in 2007. Later that year, Philadelphia Magazine named Shapiro “best state legislator.” He has served in the State House since 2005 and is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Finance and Insurance committees. As Co-Chair of the Speaker’s Commission on Legislative Reform, he has taken a leading role in strengthening legislative accountability to Pennsylvania taxpayers. He is currently running for election to a third term. |
